Nothing leaves the iPhone.
Rainbow Hunt is a game for children, so it collects nothing at all. No account, no analytics, no advertising, no servers of ours. Everything the game remembers stays on your iPhone.
Last updated: October 2026. This policy applies to the Rainbow Hunt app for iPhone (in German: Regenbogenjagd) and to this website.
What the game keeps on your iPhone
When your child keeps a color, the game saves it in its own private storage on the device:
- a small photo crop (about the size of a stamp) around the spot the camera was aimed at,
- the color values, the color's island, and the date it was caught,
- the name your child gave it, and the names the game showed.
The game also remembers its settings: language, sounds on or off, and whether HEX codes are shown.
Nobody else can read this data, including us. It is deleted when you delete the app, or with Settings → Delete all colors inside the game. Like all app data, it is part of your iPhone's own backup (iCloud or your computer), which Apple handles under your Apple Account.
Camera
The camera picture is analyzed live on the iPhone to find the color under the circle. Nothing is recorded. Only when your child taps Catch is the small photo crop described above saved.
Microphone and speech recognition
The microphone is only on while your child uses the mic button on the naming card, and it switches off by itself after a short pause. Speech is turned into text on the iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is never stored and never sent anywhere.
If your iPhone runs iOS 26 or later and has no offline speech model for the game's language (for example German on an English iPhone), the game asks iOS to download Apple's speech model. That download comes from Apple and contains no data about your child; the game does not send anything during it.
Reading aloud and on-device AI
Names are read aloud with the iPhone's built-in voices. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, a short friendly sentence about your child's name may be written by Apple's on-device language model. It runs entirely on the iPhone; the game uses only the on-device model, never a cloud service.
App Store statistics
Apple may show us anonymous, aggregated numbers such as downloads or crash counts, if you have agreed to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings. We cannot identify anyone from them.
Children
Rainbow Hunt is made for children aged about 6 to 10 and is offered in the App Store's Kids category. We do not collect personal information from children (or anyone else), so there is nothing to share, sell or disclose. Settings and any links out of the game sit behind a parental gate.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what data we hold about you and have it deleted. Because we hold none, there is nothing to request from us; all data is on your device and in your control. You are welcome to write to us with any question.
This website
This site is hosted by GitHub Pages and uses fonts from Google Fonts. Like any web server, they may log your IP address for security and operation. The site sets no cookies and has no analytics. Your language choice is kept in your browser's local storage only.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in the App Store release notes.
